Stephen Cobb- violin/viola
Stephen Cobb began studying violin at age 3 in Houston, TX where he grew up. At the age of 7 he joined the Houston Youth Symphony, where he competed and won the concerto competition in 1993, 94, and 95. He then attended and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in violin performance, and while there he toured eastern Europe and China with the S.H.S.U. symphony orchestra as its concertmaster. Stephen has played in numerous ensembles, taking on positions ranging from professional symphony player to country fiddler, guitarist in a rock band, and lots in between. After teaching violin and guitar in Houston I.S.D. for 2 years, Stephen moved to Austin, Texas where he currently teaches, plays, and records music of all genres. He is constantly seeking different ways to share his music with people, and collaborate with other talented musicians.
Michael Ross- cello
Michael hails from the arctic land of Anchorage, Alaska, where he held the position of principal cellist in the Alaska All-State Orchestra for all four years of high school. At the age of 15 he won the Anchorage Symphony youth concerto competition, and enrolled in the University of Alaska Anchorage to lead the cello section in their Sinfonia. Mike has poked around the rest of the U.S. a little too, attending the Ithaca Violoncello Institute in NY, and sitting principal cellist at the Marrowstone Summer Music Festical in WA. Mike has attended the University of North Texas, and Sam Houston State University, where he earned his B.M. in cello performance. Mike is also a skilled pianist, electric bassist, and guitarist in many different styles, and excels at improvisation. Mike came to Austin as soon as he could to explore the ripest field of musical opportunities.
